Summer’s Lease…

Last Night. Little Boy G and I were walking up the stairs to go take a bath last night when I noticed that our grandfather clock was still stopped at 11 o’clock. It’s been that way for a week now. It’s my hubby’s job to change it–I would, but I usually end up breaking things like that.

I said to G, “Tell Daddy to change the clock, for the love of Pete.”

So G yells down to Daddy, “Daddy! Change the clock to level three!”

I heard Daddy laugh a little bit. He said, “Okay.”

This morning. I woke up at about 5 o’clock to the sound of a cat scratching her claws on a chair in our bedroom. I told her to stop. She wouldn’t, so I got up and popped her bottom. She stopped. Finally. I went to the bathroom to check my blood sugar. It was just over 300. Great. We had pizza last night. Pizza is one of those carbs that take a while to fully invade your bloodstream. Hours actually. So you can’t test all at once. You have to stage it out to cover the entire time it takes the pizza to enter your system. If you take the insulin all at one, you’ll get very low. Not good. So, I tested many times before I went to bed and thought I had it under control. I guess not. Darn it. If you don’t know, you don’t want your blood sugar to be that high. Normal is about 100. I took several units of insulin to get it back down to normal and headed for the computer, since sleeping doesn’t make the blood sugar get back to normal very quickly.

I also plan to do some writing this morning while Little Boy G watches cartoons. I’m making good, but painfully slow progress. One day, I will finish it. One day.

Today. Today we will be going to the county fair. We’ll see some goats and horses and pigs. And we’ll eat some fried food that we shouldn’t. (my bad kitty is on my lap right now licking my chin. ouch.)

The weather is beautiful, so we thankfully will not bake in the hot August sun today. A huge storm blew in and a cold front yesterday, which has finally made it worthwhile to step outdoors. I love it.
